The stage at The Cutting Room, a storied venue in the heart of New York City, played host to a night of musical excellence as Rockit Academy alumni delivered an electrifying opening performance for a special documentary screening.
The ensemble opened the event for an exclusive presentation of the documentary “Billy Preston: That’s the Way God Planned It,” following a soul-stirring set by the Gospel Choir from The Late Show.
The performance was a testament to the versatility and professionalism of the Rockit alumni, who were joined by special guest trombonist Alex Wiggins. Despite having only a single rehearsal to prepare, the group commanded the stage with a level of energy and precision that resonated throughout the legendary venue.
The academy extended a special note of gratitude to Steve Walter for the invitation, marking another milestone in the foundation’s ongoing presence within the New York City music scene. The appearance highlighted the enduring impact of the Rockit curriculum, which continues to prepare students for professional-grade performances in high-profile environments.
