The Rockit Live Foundation is thrilled to announce that Rockit Academy musician Teddy Kurdyla has been named a recipient of the prestigious Stevie and Maureen Van Zandt Scholarship.

Thanks to the enduring generosity and mentorship of Rockit’s esteemed Godfather and Godmother, international rock icon Stevie Van Zandt and actress/producer Maureen Van Zandt, this comprehensive scholarship is valued at $5,880. The award fully funds a year of premier music education at the Rockit Academy, covering private instruction, intensive band rehearsals, session fees, and live performance opportunities on legendary local stages.

The Stevie and Maureen Van Zandt Scholarship recipients are selected not only for their raw musical gifts but for their character. Teddy was chosen for his exceptional talent, unwavering passion, consistent hard work, and deep dedication to community service—core pillars that directly mirror the Rockit Live Foundation’s mission to nurture well-rounded young artists.

What makes this milestone even more significant is that it marks a major artistic evolution for Teddy, who auditioned on vocals for the very first time.

“Receiving the Stevie Van Zandt Scholarship was an incredible honor, and I am very grateful to have been selected,” Teddy shared. “It was especially meaningful because it was my first time auditioning for vocals, so being recognized as a singer meant a lot to me. The scholarship gave me confidence in my voice and inspired me to continue growing as a singer.”
