The intersection of local talent and community impact took center stage this week at Baseline Social, as musicians turned up the volume to support the vital work of Blood Cancer United.

The event, which drew a passionate crowd, was spearheaded by Rockit Academy’s own Emersyn Freund and her friend Olivia Margolin. Their leadership in organizing the gathering highlighted a growing movement among local youth to use their platforms to drive awareness and support for the fight against blood cancer.

The Rockit Academy students set the tone for the evening with a high-energy opening performance. The evening also served as a homecoming of sorts, underscoring the deep ties between Rockit Academy and the local music scene. Brian Kirk, who has recruited numerous Rockit alumni into his band over the years, shared the stage with former Rockit students Rob Grande and Sam Ferrara, who performed as members of the Jirks.

For the Rockit Academy, the event was more than participating in a successful fundraiser; it was a tangible demonstration of its core mission. The school’s curriculum is designed to push students beyond mere technical proficiency, emphasizing the duty to use musical gifts to serve the broader community.
