Young musicians from the Rockit Academy will have a special opportunity to share their talents as they open for the Asbury Park African American Music Foundation’s (AP-AMP) presentation of “Springwood Avenue Sounds” on Juneteenth, June 19th, 2025. The event will take place at Blackbird Community Gardens as part of the North to Shore festival.

“Springwood Avenue Sounds” promises to be a powerful homecoming, celebrating the rich musical history of Asbury Park’s African American community. Following the Rockit Academy’s performance, attendees will be treated to the soulful vocals of Asbury Park native Kym Still and the captivating saxophone of Reggie Harris. Adding to the magic of the evening will be surprise appearances by legacy musicians who once graced Springwood Avenue, bridging generations in an intimate tribute to the city’s vibrant musical heritage. This Juneteenth event offers a unique blend of emerging talent and legendary figures, honoring Asbury Park’s enduring musical soul.
