“I know, in my soul, that Rockit Academy dramatically improves the lives of any child involved in it. The knowledge these kids are receiving will be with them for the rest of their lives. They are learning responsibility, discipline, teamwork, how to take direction, how to lead, and most of all, how to make fantastic music together. The personal bonds, the lessons learned, the friendships made, will last a lifetime.
The Rockit Live Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Rockit’s mission is to help develop, nurture, and inspire young musicians to reach their full artistic potential through live music education offered at Brookdale Community College. The foundation’s defining focus is outreach, music education, and scholarships. The Rockit Live Foundation also endeavors to build character as well as talent, instilling confidence and team skills with an emphasis on community service.
Students ages 8-18 and Brookdale Community College students, audition, then participate in a multiple-week group program to study music & learn a specific repertoire of songs, supplemented with individual instruction. Student musicians are then grouped to form separate bands who together, at the program’s end, perform in a concert replete with high-production gear and lighting.
